Hi and Welcome to the I Crush Barbecue Show, I'm your host Abe Delgado.  In this Episode I chat with my buddy Alan Cruz of A's Barbecue.  A Native of East LA, Alan grew up with his Mexican Culture and all of the Latino Flavors that he now share's through his BBQ.  He calls it East LA Chicano BBQ or East Los Soul BBQ, I just call it Delicious!  With Central Texas Style BBQ at its foundation, you may be fooled by what it looks like but once you bite into it,  those flavors take you to what you might find on the street corners in East LA.  Al Pastor, Cochinita, Blue Corn Tortillas and so much more.  You're not going to want to miss this one!

In this Episode I chat with one of Texas Monthly's newest Top 50 Joints,  LaVaca BBQ in Port Lavaca TX!  This is a Family owned business that was built and is run by the family! I had the pleasure of meeting these fine folks at BrettFest a couple of weeks ago and I loved their story and was blown away by their Smoked Tamales.  Although Lupe, Christine and Kelly have had success in BBQ, they're the new kids on the Block and they're really enjoying all of the comradery that they've experienced since the announcement!  This family has figured our simpler and smarter ways to do business, in some cases they were forced to due to lack of resources.  You're not going to want to miss this one.

In this episode, I share 10 SoCal Underground BBQ Joints that are Crushing it!  I haven't ranked them and they're in no particular order they're just some of the many joints I've been to that are doing Great Things.  They're pretty spread out so hopefully there is one close to you that you can check out! (If you live in SoCal of course).  BBQ is booming in CA and we're still riding high on everything that has happened in the last year.  We now have SLAB, Heritage BBQ, and Moo's in SoCal, and Horn is holding it down up north!  I can tell you that our pipeline also looks good.  Check out these 10 and I may have added a Bonus spot but you'll have to tune in.  I hope you enjoy the show!!!

We have a Very Special show for you today, I was Live and on Location at the Heritage Barbecue One Year Anniversary when I recorded this episode.   You'll feel like you're a part of the event as I walk through the crowd and chat with Owners Danny and Brenda Castillo, several happy customers and of course  the Pitmasters that came in town for this amazing event.  We had representation from Kansas City, Texas, CA and Monterrey Mexico so you'll hear me switch to Spanish for a moment while I chat with my buddy Luis Rivas who sends a big shoutout to our friends South of the Border but don't worry, I switch back to English in no time!  Remember, this is a live recording so the sound may not be perfect but I think you're going to love the content!  Before we kick it off, I want to send a huge thanks to Danny and Brenda and the whole Heritage Barbecue Crew for choosing me to help Organize the event.  Also Huge thanks to everyone that cooked, helped cook, set up and broke down, and especially all those that came to Eat!  IT was certainly one for the Ages!!  Stay tuned for some fun updates at the end of the podcast, and now kick back and enjoy the show!!

Lookout for my next episode where I'll Drop 10 Underground BBQ Joints that are Crushing it in SoCal, you're not going to want to miss that one.

In this episode, I talk to my good friend, Mr. Tyler Harp.  Tyler has been absolutely crushing it lately with Recognition from national magazines, getting invited to cook with Hoodoo Brown at the Windy City Smokeout in Chi-Town, and having his very first Harp Barbecue Fest at his hometown of Kansas City!  He's done countless Collabs and he's coming back to California to cook at the one-year anniversary of Heritage Barbecue.  This will be his encore performance since he was out here for the Grand Opening.  Tyler is a passionate young man with amazing talent; he's focused on putting KC back on the Map as a BBQ powerhouse.   He was voted Best BBQ in KC by KC Magazine and most recently he was named in the top 41 best bbq joints across America by Thrillist. You're not going to want to miss this one.

Tune in for some exciting updates!!

In this Episode I interview my buddy Bryan Bingham formerly of Bodacious BBQ on Mobberly and now proud owner of Sunbird Barbecue in Longview Texas.  We recorded this show a few days before his job at Bodacious came to an abrupt end.  It's funny because in our interview he says "You can Plan all you want but you never know what can happen"!  This is an inspiring story of a family man that is determined to do whatever it takes to pursue his passion.  Thankful for the support and motivation from his wife Kimmy, Bryan is now ready for the next step in his barbecue Career.  If you don't know Bryan, I guarantee you after you listen to this show you'll be pulling for him.  One of the reasons I started this podcast was because of an Episode I heard on another show about Evie Maes, I was so moved by that story and it inspired me to want to tell those types of stories.  What's ironic to me is that now Bryan has bought Evie Mae's trailer to start his own business.  You're not going to want to miss this one, this is Sunbird Barbecue!

This is a very special episode for me I get the great honor to Interview welcome back one of my buddies to the Barbecue Scene! Bryan Furman was on top of the Culinary world in 2019, he finished as a semi-finalist for a James Beard Award,  he had just been named one of America's Best New Chefs by Food and Wine magazine and Bon Appetit dubbed him as Georgia's New King of BBQ. Just as all the stars seemed to have aligned for Bryan, it happened.  During an overnight cook at his main location in the Riverside neighborhood of Atlanta, a fire broke out and in minutes destroyed what he worked so hard to build.  It's been just over two years since that fateful night and through his hard work and determination, Bryan is now ready to make his highly anticipated return to the Culinary World.  This is just the beginning of the Comeback story for Bryan Furman Barbecue.  I hope you enjoy the Show

On this Episode I interview Dimitri Ioakim of Rosie's BBQ and Grillery in Northridge CA.  As many folks build their clientele through popups or food trucks or trailers, Dimitri started from the other end!  After being in the Restaurant industry for most of his life he decided to buy a Restaurant and he's been easing his way into the BBQ World ever since. Now he has Pit's on order from a local pit builder and friend of ours, Fatstack Smokers and he's got big plans for his BBQ Restaurant.  I hope you enjoy the show!
