In this episode I chat with my buddies Brad and Brandon Doan of 1775 Texas Pitt BBQ in College Station Texas.  Actually, everyone in Texas Calls it Bryan/College Station since both Cities are practically tied together.  These country boys are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet and they're doing some amazing things at the outskirts of this College Town.  Students  from Texas A&M University, Blinn College and residents from Bryan/College Station and the surrounding communities flock to this Indoor/outdoor establishment.  The views of the beautiful Texas Country with Cattle grazing in the distance, the smell of amazing BBQ and the fresh homemade sides & Pies, transports you to a family outing.  I visited late last year and It definitely exceeded my expectations.  They have a great story which includes Military Service, over 20yrs of Restaurant Experience, Family Pride and Passion.  You're not going to want to miss this one, I hope you enjoy their Story!

In this episode I interview my buddy Karl Fallenius of OwlBear Barbecue in Denver Colorado. Karl has an incredible story that includes cutting his teeth at the legendary Franklin Barbecue,  slinging barbecue in the CO Underground scene and finally opening a brick and mortar in the heart of Denver.    We dive into his menu and he even gives us a recipe that is at the base of all of his proteins.  He also gives us a peek into the whole Denver Barbecue Scene and share's tips on where you should go if you're ever in the area. My buddy Scott Dube was actually eating at Owlbear while I was interviewing  Karl, you'll get to hear him give us a shout out in the background.   I had the great pleasure of visiting Owlbear in November of last year and I was extremely impressed with the incredible food.  You need to definitely add this to your list if you have not made it out.  I hope you enjoy the story, this is Owlbear Barbecue.

Welcome to the I Crush Barbecue Show

In our 5th Episode of the season, I chat with Adam Hernandez of Herc's Barbecue in Covina CA.  Adam grew up watching his Grandfather cook Brisket and Barbacoa and he remembers the love he had for those gatherings.  In a Trip to Texas in 2015 he was suddenly brought back to those days when he had his first Texas Barbecue Moment.  Ever since then he's been hooked on recreating those moments for himself and his family.  Although he's one of the newest popups on the Underground Scene, he's already making waves with his Craft Barbecue.  He has a small team and the support of his family and he's dreaming big.  Herc's is one of the rising stars in the Underground Barbecue scene, I hope you enjoy his story.

Welcome to Season Two of the  I Crush Barbecue Show!!

In our 3rd Episode of the Season,  I chat with my friends Kristen and Stephen Rossler of Rosslers Blue Cord Barbecue in Killeen Texas.  They have an incredible story  that couldn't fit into just one episode so we'll have a Part 2 Next week!  In this first part we'll go into their backgrounds and where they "mostly " grew up.   They're both well-traveled due to their military backgrounds, Kristen was a military brat and Stephen is in the last leg of his military service, he's due to retire later this year.  Stephen has been known to help out many folks in the barbecue community and he truly appreciates the comradery which is similar to what he's had in the Military.   At one point he had no idea what he'd do once he retired but that all changed a few years back when he found his calling in the Barbecue World.  BTW he has connections to California BBQ!  Kristen has the small business and restaurant experience and she's found a new love of playing with fire!  Together they're an all-star couple and it was a pleasure to chat with them.  I hope you enjoy their Story, this is Rosslers Blue Cored barbecue.

WELCOME TO SEASON 2!!!

My first Episode of the season is an incredible story of High School Kids in Barbeque! I chatted with Ms Sarah Allen at Lubbock-Cooper High School in Lubbock Texas and some of the members of their bbq competition teams! The team is made up of an equal number of male & female students and they all share the responsibilities of preparation & execution. They are cooking on stick burners, some schools even have programs where students are building pits, more to come on that, they are cooking several proteins and making sides as well! Part of their training includes getting a little help from the Pro’s! The end goal is to make it to the state competition and bring home the Championship. This story gives us a glimpse into what’s happening in the HIGH SCHOOL BBQ scene and it’s a feel good story of how the awesome culture is now embracing our youth! Btw, they have a couple of items on their wishlist, listen to the end and let me know if you want to help out!! I hope you enjoy the show, this is the Lubbock Cooper HS BBQ Team!

The “Tootsie” Sampler includes:

1 Beef Brisket (approximately 4-5 lbs): trimmed and oak-smoked low and slow for 10 to 12 hours, producing a perfectly crisp bark, divine smoke ring and moist center.

1 Pork Steak (approximately 2 lbs): bone-in and memorable, a house specialty and local favorite that highlights the brilliance behind barbecuing thick, juicy upper shoulder cuts.

2 rings of Snow’s Original or Jalapeño Sausage (approximately 2 lbs): made from a house blend of beef, pork, and spices in a natural casing, slow cooked, and infused with oak smoke.

Total: Approx. 9 lbs.

In this Episode I chat with my buddy, Bryan Gonzalez, you might remember him from episode 11 when I interviewed him and Robert Sierra of SS Pit Crew.  Since then Bryan has made a decision to move on from his full time job and his Barbecue Competition team in order to focus his attention on Barbecue Full time.  No, he's not starting his own business just yet, instead he was offered an opportunity to work at one of the Top Barbecue Joints in the Country!  Although it means uprooting his life in San Marcos Texas, he is extremely excited to learn from one of the best in the business.  Bryan is extremely talented and one of the friendliest and most humble guys you'll meet.  Tune in to hear his story and find out where he's headed.  I hope you enjoy the show!
